Government amends its Export policy regarding Masks
Government has amended its Export policy regarding Masks. All kinds of Non medical masks including those made up of cotton, silk, wool and knitted material will be allowed to be exported. All medical masks will however, continue to remain prohibited for export. Government had earlier completely prohibited export of any kind of mask from the country.
Recovery rate of COVID-19 patients improves to 35.08 per cent
Union Health Secretary Preeti Sudan interacted with 30 COVID-19 high case load municipal areas and reviewed measures for containment and management of COVID-19. Ms Sudan held the meeting in New Delhi with Principal Health Secretaries, Municipal Commissioners, DMs and other officials from these municipal areas which which are contributing almost 80 per cent of the country's COVID-19 cases. During the meeting, it was informed that since yesterday, fresh 3,970 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the country taking the total number to 85,940. So far, a total of 30,150 people have been cured and in the last 24 hours, 2,233 patients were found cured. and this is takes the total recovery rate to 35.09 per cent.

Health Ministry lists measures to prevent Dengue on National Dengue Day on 16th May.
On the occasion of National Dengue Day today, Health Ministry has listed a series of simple measures through which Dengue can be prevented. Surroundings must be kept clean to protect oneself from mosquito bites. Stagnation of water in containers must be avoided to prevent mosquito breeding. Coolers must be checked and cleaned on weekly basis. Water tanks and containers must be covered with tight lids. People should use mosquito nets or repellents and long sleeved clothes. The water in flower vases, aquariums and bird baths must be changed every week.

38 new additional mandis integrated with e-NAM platform on 16th May
The pan-India electronic agri-produce trading portal, e-NAM has reached milestone of one thousand mandis across 18 States and three Union Territories. Agriculture Ministry said, 38 additional mandis were integrated with the e-NAM platform today. National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) was launched in 2016, with the aim of networking the existing Mandis on a common online market platform as One Nation One Market for agricultural commodities in the country. The online digital market aims at reducing transaction costs, bridging information asymmetries, and helping expansion of market access for farmers and other stakeholders.
World Bank approves USD 1 bn aid to India to accelerate COVID-19 social protection response programme
World Bank has approved one billion US dollar 'Accelerating India’s COVID-19 Social Protection Response Programme' to support India. Total commitment from the Bank towards emergency COVID-19 response in India is two billion US dollars. This new support will be funded in two phases - an immediate allocation of 750 million US dollars for fiscal year 2020 and a 250 million US dollar second tranche that will be made available for fiscal year 2021.

Government has announced a 1.63 lakh crore rupee package for agriculture and allied sectors aimed at strengthening infrastructure, logistics and capacity building at farm gate. Announcing the third tranche of an overall package of 20 lakh crore rupees to deal with the economic situation arising of COVID-19 pandemic, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a one lakh crore rupees Agri Infrastructure Fund that will finance projects at farm-gate and aggregation point for efficient post-harvest management of crop.
