Recovery rate of COVID-19 improves to 48.07 percent
Health and Family Welfare Ministry said that a total 95 thousand 527 people affected with Corona virus have cured and the recovery rate reached to 48.07 per cent in the country. During the last twenty four hours, three thousand 708 people have recovered and eight thousand 171 fresh cases of COVID-19 have been reported taking the total number of cases to one lakh 98 thousand 706. Health Ministry said, 204 deaths have been reported in last 24 hours taking the nationwide toll to five thousand 598.
PM Modi reiterates his call to maintain Do Gaj Ki Doori, wear mask and clean hands
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reiterated his call to maintain Do Gaj Ki Doori, wear mask and clean hands in order to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country. While inaugurating the SPICMACAY Anubhav Series on the theme of using song and art to alleviate apprehensions and fear, Mr Modi said, music is a great healer and unifies people from all sections of society. He also mentioned the united effort of people coming together for clapping and clanging utensils and equated this unified spirit to the melodies of music.
DRDO develops Ultra Swachh for disinfection of PPEs, electronic items, fabrics
Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) has developed a disinfection unit named Ultra Swachh to disinfect a wide range of materials, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), electronics items, fabrics and others. Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences, the Delhi-based laboratory of DRDO has developed this product with industry partner Gel Craft Health care Private Ltd. The system uses an advanced oxidative process comprising of multiple barrier disruption approach using Ozonated Space Technology for disinfection.
Govt targets to provide Kisan Credit Cards to one crore 50 lakh dairy farmers
The government has set a target to provide Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to one crore 50 lakh dairy farmers belonging to Milk Unions and Milk producing Companies under a special drive within next two months. Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying said, the card will be provided from June to 31st of July. Farmers who already have Kisan Credit Card based on their land ownership, can get their KCC credit limit enhanced. However, interest subvention will be available only to the extent of three lakhs rupees. Although the general limit for KCC credit without collateral will remain 1.6 lakh rupees. But in case of farmers whose milk is directly procured by Milk Unions and falls under tie up arrangements between the producers and processing units without any intermediaries, then credit limits without Collateral can be upto three lakh rupees.
Odisha, Sikkim and Mizoram included in One Nation One Ration Card scheme
- Three more states have been included in One Nation, One Ration Card scheme. These are Odisha, Sikkim and Mizoram. Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan announced the inclusion of these states in the scheme on Integrated Management of Public Distribution System.
- Under this system, nation-wide portability of the benefits under National Food Security Act through One Nation, One Ration Card plan is implemented to enable the NFSA ration card holders to lift their entitled quota of subsidized food grains from any e-PoS enabled Fair Price Shop of their choice anywhere in the country, by using the existing and same ration card after Aadhaar authentication. The facility is enabled in 17 States and UTs so far.
- They are Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Telangana, Tripura and Uttar Pradesh. Further, constant efforts are being made to expand the reach of national portability to the beneficiaries of other states.
- By August 2020, Uttarakhand, Nagaland and Manipur will also be added to the national cluster. Centre is doing all necessary arrangements to include remaining all 13 states to the national cluster. They are West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Chandigarh, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep. It is confirmed that by 31st March 2021 all states will be added to One Nation, One Ration Card scheme.
Finance Commission holds meeting with Environment Ministry on air quality in urban areas
The 15th Finance Commission on 1st June, 2020 held a meeting with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on Issues Related to Air Quality in Urban Areas. The commission is currently deliberating the recommendations to be made for the next five years from 2021-22 to 2025-26 and needs to formulate suitable provisions for continuing the grants for improving ambient air quality in a sustainable manner. During the meeting, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar appreciated the inclusion of Air Quality (AQ) of Delhi in the 15th Finance Commission Report of 2020-2021. He added that there would be a basic structural change in sources of AQ in the next few years and particularly in larger cities of the country due to the new regime to emission norms. He said, it would lead to a estimated reduction of 30 to 40 per cent in vehicular emission.
Govt unveils PM SVANIDHI scheme to provide affordable loans to street vendors
Union Government today launched PM SVANIDHI - Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atmanirbhar Nidhi - a special micro-credit facility scheme for providing affordable loan to street vendors. The scheme is aimed at enabling the street vendors to resume their livelihoods that have been adversely affected due to COVID-19 lockdown. Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry launched the scheme in pursuance of the announcement made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman last month. Street vendors play significant role in ensuring availability of the goods and services at affordable rates at the door-step of the city dweller.
