India, Israel Collaborated to develop rapid testing for COVID-19 in under 30 seconds
Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi called External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during which he pledged to strengthen collaboration between the two countries in the fight against coronavirus as a high-level Israeli delegation left for New Delhi to jointly develop rapid testing for COVID-19 in under 30 seconds.
Sahitya Akademi Awardee Sa. Kandasamy passed away at 81 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu
Famous Tamil writer and documentary filmmaker Sa Kandasamy passed away in a private hospital here on Friday due to heart attack. He was 81. According to sources, the departed writer was undergoing treatment for a few days and he died of heart attack on 31st July 2020. He wrote various novels and essays, and his novel ‘Vicharani Commission’ (Enquiry Commission) won the Sahitya Akademi award in 1998 for the ‘Best Tamil Novel’. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons. He is a native of Mayiladuthurai.

MSME launched programme under “Gramodyog Vikas Yojana” to benefit artisans manufacturing Agarbatti
The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), a statutory organisation under the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), will provide training, and assist artisans working in this area, with Agarbatti manufacturing machines.
The government has approved a programme for the benefit of artisans involved in manufacturing of agarbatti and to develop village industry under the ‘Gramodyog Vikas Yojana’. Initially four pilot projects will be started as part of the programme, including one in the North East. The MSME Ministry said “this decision will help to boost the indigenous production of agarbatti and will pave way to generate rural employment”. “This will also start the process of mitigating the gap between the indigenous production and demand and will reduce import of agarbatti in the country,” it added.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launches ARHCs Knowledge Pack and Launches mobile app of CREDAI
Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday launched digital platforms of real estate bodies CREDAI and NAREDCO to market residential properties, besides releasing a guide book for affordable rental housing scheme for migrants. The minister launched ‘CREDAI Awaas App’ and NAREDCO’s online portal ‘HousingforAll.com’ through a video conference. Puri released the knowledge pack of the government’s ‘Affordable Rental Housing Complexes’ (ARHCs) programme, which has been recently launched to provide rental accommodations to migrant and urban poor.

India & UK tie up for new 8 Million Pounds Medicinal Research
India and the UK will be enhancing their science and research collaboration with five new projects worth 8 million pounds to tackle anti-microbial resistance, which could lead to important advances in the global fight against antibiotic-resistant bacteria and genes. The UK will contribute 4 million pounds from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Fund for International Collaboration, which India will match with its own resources - resulting in the total funding of 8 million pounds. The new tie-up was announced on Tuesday as Tariq Ahmad, UK Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth, as he conducted a so-called "virtual visit" to India.
