Government amends Flag
Code of India to allow tri-colour to be flown day and night
The government has amended the Flag Code of India to allow the tricolour to be displayed in the open and on individual houses or buildings through day and night. The provision earlier allowed the flag, when displayed in the open, to be flown from sunrise to sunset as far as possible. Now, a member of the public, a private organisation or an educational institution is allowed to hoist the flag on all days and occasions, ceremonial or otherwise, consistent with dignity and honour of the national flag. The move comes ahead of 75th anniversary of Indian Independence.The Flag Code of India was earlier amended on December 30, 2021, allowing the use of polyester, apart from cotton, wool, silk and khadi for making hand-spun, hand-woven and machine-made flags. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon people to hoist the Tricolour or display it in their homes between 13th and 15th August.

President-elect Droupadi Murmu will be sworn-in as President of India in the Central Hall of Parliament at 10:15 AM tomorrow. The outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind and the President-elect Droupadi Murmu will arrive in the Central Hall in a ceremonial procession. The President-elect Droupadi Murmu will take the Oath of Office in the presence of the Chief Justice of India NV Ramana followed by a 21-Gun Salute. The President will then deliver an address.

Burhanpur is the only district in the country where all people from each of 254 villages have access to safe drinking water through taps. Only 36.54 percent of over one lakh households in Burhanpur had potable drinking water through tap connections at the time of the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission on 15th August 2019. Despite various disruptions and challenges in face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the consistent efforts by Panchayat representatives, Pani Samitis and district officials of Burhanpur have led to the provision of functional tap water connections to all its 1 lakh 1 thousand 905 rural households within a span of 34 months.

In the prestigious competition held at Eugene in Oregon, United States, the champ grabbed second position with his best throw of 88.13 metres this morning. Chess Olympiad Torch Relay leaves Andaman
The Chess Olympiad Relay Torch which reached Port Blair was handed over to the Chief Secretary of the Isalnd Administration Jitendra Narain by Grand Master Nilotpal Das at a function held at CellularJail in Andaman. The Chief Secretary in turn handed over the Torch back to Grand Master Nilotpal Das and eminent chess player R Kasthuri Bhai. The Torch Relay has finally concluded at Andaman Club after doing rounds at prominent places of the city. The Relay shortly departed from Port Blair to mainland to further proceed on it's journey.
1st Khelo India Fencing Women’s League to start
from Monday in New Delhi
The 1st Khelo India Fencing Women’s League will start from Monday at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium, New Delhi. Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry said, the first-of-its-kind national fencing competition for women will take place until 29th of this month. It will be held in over three phases. A total of one crore 54 lakh has been sanctioned by the Sports Authority of India over the conduct of the league. The prize money for each phase has been earmarked at over 17 Lakh rupees.
