PM Modi pays tribute to freedom activist Veer Savarkar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tributes to freedom activist Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his 51st death anniversary today. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Veer Savarkar was a true patriot who envisioned a strong and developed India. Born in 1883, Savarkar set up the Abhinav Bharat Society, during his college days and preached a revolutionary struggle against the British. While on a scholarship to Britain, Savarkar organised students and advocated an armed struggle to throw the British out of India and created a network of like-minded individuals.Revolutionary Savarkar had spent many years in the cellular jail in the Andamans.

Odisha provides 4,376 acres of private land to ECoR for 5 railway projects
Odisha government has provided 4,376 acres of private land to the East Coast Railways for the execution of five big railway projects in the state. Informing this in State assembly, Commerce and transport minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi said that these new railway lines are Khurda Road-Bolangir, Paradip-Haridaspur, Angul-Sukinda, Talcher-Bimalagarh, and Sambalpur-Talcher double line.

Himachal Pradesh: Famous International Shivratri festival begins in Mandi
In Himachal Pradesh, the famous Mandi International Shivratri festival began yesterday. AIR correspondent reports that nearly 200 deities from different parts of the state are participating in the festival this time. The one week long Mandi International Shivratri fair started with religious procession known as Jaleb on 26.02.2017.

India's envoy to US Sarna meets Trump in Oval Office
India's envoy to the United States, Navtej Sarna met US President Donald Trump yesterday. This was the first meeting of the top Indian diplomat with Mr Trump after he was sworn in as the US President last month. Since arriving in the US, Mr Sarna has met scores of top American lawmakers, engaged the community across the country and interacted with the think-tanks. Envoys from other countries also met the US President at the Oval Office in White House on 25.02.2017

Iran and Russia agree to jointly produce nuclear fuel
Iran's Atomic Energy Organization has said that Russia and Iran have reached an agreement to jointly produce nuclear fuel. The Head of the Organisation Ali Akbar Salehi told the semi-official news agency, ISNA that a preliminary agreement with Russia on the joint production of nuclear fuel was reached during the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the major world powers in 2015. 

World's first robot table tennis tutor sets Guinness record
The world's first robot table tennis tutor in Japan has set a new Guinness World Record for its uncanny ability of being able to play the game better than most humans. FORPHEUS (Future Omron Robotics Technology for Exploring Possibility of Harmonised Automation with Sinic Theoretics) has officially been given the Guinness title for its unique technological intelligence and educational capabilities.According to the project's lead developer Taku Oya, from Omron Corporation, the goal of FORPHEUS is to harmonise humans and robots, by way of teaching the game of table tennis to human players.

India wins all 3 medals at Asian Para-Road Cycling Championship
India has made a rousing start at the sixth Asian Para-Road Cycling Championship in Bahrain. On the opening day of the tournament at Bahrain today, India bagged all three medals in the 12.8 Kilometre Individual Time Trial.Abhishek from Chandigarh won the gold medal, Divij Shah from West Bengal won silver and Harinder Singh from BSF accounted for the bronze medal. 

Saina Nehwal to represent Olympic Committee in BWF
Adding another feather in her cap, star shuttler Saina Nehwal, who was appointed a member of the International Olympic Committee's Athletes' Commission (AC) last year, would be representing the panel in the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

Gopi, Athare win men's and women's races in Delhi Marathon
Rio Olympian Thanackal Gopi won the men's title in the second edition of the IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon today. Monika Athare claimed the honours in the women's section.
