69th Army Day being observed today
69th Army Day is being observed today Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar have greeted to all soldiers, veterans and their families on Army Day. Mr Modi said, people of the country salute the courage and invaluable service of the Indian Army. The Prime Minister said, Army put their lives at risk so that the countrymen live peacefully. Our correspondent reports, an impressive Army Parade was also organised at the Delhi Cantt to celebrate the occasion. The day marks the taking over of the Indian Army by the first Indian Commander-in-Chief, Field Marshal K M Cariappa, on 15th January 1949. Army day is celebrated to pay homage and salute to the courageous and brave Indian soldiers who have been sacrificing their lives for protecting the country.
RBI Note Mudran printing press prints highest number of currency notes in Dec
The RBI Note Mudran printing press in Mysuru has broken all its past record by printing highest number of currency notes in December. Honorary President of Note Mudran Limited Employees Union, A Ramdass informed Akashvani that 10.9 million notes were printed on a single day, which he said breaks the previous world record of 8.7 million notes printed in an American currency printing press.There are 650 workers involved in printing work in the Mysuru unit which worked for 12 hours a day in two shifts and printed 1350 million currency notes in December.
PM Modi to deliver inaugural address at 2nd Raisina Dialogue

Hyderabad gears up to host 1st ever ABU International Dance Festival
Hyderabad city has geared up to host the First ever Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) International Dance Festival this evening. Over 100 artists from about ten countries will showcase their traditional and contemporary dance nuances, from the Asia-Pacific region during the festival. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu will be inaugurating the festival, which Prasar Bharati is hosting in coordination with Telangana state Government. Countries including Maldives, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Philippines, Fiji, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Malaysia and India are taking part in the first edition of the Festival. The artists, all aged between 18-25 are expected to unveil the traditional and contemporary dance forms.

J&K records highest electoral enrolment
Jammu and Kashmir has recorded highest electoral enrolment during special summary revision of electoral rolls - 2017. About 2 lakh new voters have been enrolled during the special summary revision which includes about 87 thousand men and over 1 lakh females.Chief Electoral Officer Shantmanu gave this information. He said, the enrolment of female electors is on higher side as compared to male electors and the gender ratio of the State has also improved to 909 compared to census gender ratio of 889.
Two-day camel festival begins in Bikaner
The two-day annual camel festival began today with much fanfare in the presence of foreigners and domestic tourists at Bikaner in Rajasthan. The festival, dedicated to the ship of the desert, will see camel dance, milking and fur cutting design competitions and camel races. The event was organised by the Rajasthan Tourism Department and the Bikaner district administration.

SEBI cuts broker fees by 25 pc to Rs 15 per transaction
Securities and Exchange Board of India, SEBI, has decided to lower broker fees by 25 per cent to 15 rupees per transaction of one crore rupees as part of calibration of various other fees collected by the regulator from different market intermediaries. The move is likely to reduce overall cost of transactions.
TCS CEO N. Chandrasekaran appointed Tata Sons chairman
Tata Sons have appointed TCS Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Natarajan Chandrasekaran as its new Chairman. A press release issued by the company last evening said Mr. Chandrasekaran will take charge on 21st February. His appointment comes after the Tata sons removed Cyrus Mistry as the Chairman.
Industrial production grows 5.7% in November
Allaying fears of a slowdown following demonetisation, the country's industrial production grew 5.7 percent in November 2016, compared to a contraction of 3.4 percent in November of the previous year.
Rabi Crops Sowing Crosess 616 Lakh Hactare
Rabi crops have been sown in around six crore 16 lakh hectares till date which is about 35 lakh hectares more than last year. Data released by the Agriculture Ministry said, wheat has been sown in around three crore nine lakh hectare which is about 20 lakh hectare more than last year.
14th Mumbai Marathon flagged-off in Mumbai
The 14th edition of the prestigious Mumbai Marathon 2017 was flagged-off at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus in Mumbai this morning. The Full Marathon for Amateurs was flagged off from outside CST at 5:40 am followed by the Full Marathon for the Elite and Indian athletes at 7:20 am. Both these races will finish at CST.
