Bihar sets record of forming longest human chain of 3 cr people to make State free from alcohol
Bihar government today launched a Nasha Mukti campaign to make the state addiction-free with formation of over 11 thousand kilometre long human chain across the state. Chief minister Nitish Kumar said, over three crore people participated in this human chain. Our correspondent reports that the event was recorded as the world's longest human chain in Limca Book of Records. Earlier the record was with Bagladesh where 50 lakh people had participated in one thousand 50 kilo metre long human chain
Govt to launch control programme for 5 non-communicable diseases
Government will launch population based prevention, screening and control programme for five common non-communicable diseases. They are Hypertension, Diabetes, and Cancers of oral cavity, breast and cervix. Health Ministry is expected to launch the programme on the occasion of World Cancer Day on 4th of February.
New Delhi: Two day workshop on Rights of Persons with Disabilities underway
A two day workshop to build partnership between governments of Asian region and NGOs in implementation of UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities got underway in New Delhi today. Participants from 12 countries from West Asia, Central Asia and South Asia were present on the occasion. Inaugurating the event, Joint Secretary, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Awnish Awasthi highlighted the need for such partnership between governmental and non governmental organisations for the upliftment of persons with disabilities.

Syria regime, rebels set for first face to face at Astana
Syria's government and rebel fighters will sit down at the negotiating table for the first time in nearly six years of war tomorrow, the latest diplomatic push to end the hostilities. Anurag Thakur elected as head of HPOA
Anurag Thakur who was ousted as BCCI President following a Supreme Court order, was today unanimously elected head of the Himachal Pradesh Olympic Association, HPOA for a four-year term. He was elected at the HPOA's Annual General Meeting at Dharamsala today.
