Union Budget on February 1
- The Union Cabinet will decide on Wednesday to change the British-era legacy of presenting the Union budget on the last day of February and may settle for February 1 for unveiling the most awaited financial statement from the government.
4 TN cities in new smart city list
- Four cities in Tamil Nadu Madurai, Thanjavur, Salem and Vellore -made it to the list of 27 smart cities announced on Tuesday . Varanasi and Vadodara, the two constituencies from where PM Modi contested the 2014 elections, were also included.
Tamil Nadu CM to launch 2 new metro rail lines
- Chief minister J Jayalalithaa will inaugurate two elevated metro rail lines a nine-kilometre line from Little Mount to the airport and a less than one kilometre line from Alandur to St Thomas Mount on Wednesday . With this, the entire 21km elevated section of the 45km phase-one of metro rail will become operational.
