Nepal won't allow any anti-India activities' - Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal
- Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Saturday (17.09.2016) said anti-India activities will not be al lowed from his coun try. He was here on a day-long visit to India's largest hydropower project in Kinnaur district of Hi machal Pradesh run by public sector Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Ltd (SJVNL is commissioning a 900MW Arun Stage-III project in the Himalayan nation).
Centre to set up entity to manage pulses buffer stock
- The government will soon invite tenders from state-run and private companies to set up an entity to manage the proposed buffer stock of pulses, and for their storage and disposal, a senior official said on Saturday 18.09.2016.This follows the recommendation of a panel headed by chief economic adviser Arvind Subramanian, which backed the setting up of a new institution as a public private partnership (PPP) to compete with and complement existing institutions to procure, stock and dispose pulses. The government has already decided to create a twomillion-tonne buffer stock as authorities move to tackle the problem of shortages and price spikes of the essential protein item.
Scorpene data was leaked in France' Won't Affect Any Project: Army Chief
- Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba said on Saturday that preliminary investigation into the Scorpene data leak shows that it did not happen in India but in the DCNS office in France. “There is a high-level committee which is inquiring into the Scorpene leak on our side. Similarly in France, DCNS and the French government have launched an inquiry . Based on this inquiry, we will see what needs to be done and whether any mitigation measures are required or not,“ Lanba said at the launch of India's latest warship, Mormugao, in Mumbai.“In preliminary investigation, it has been found that the leak did not happen in India but in the DCNS office in France,“ he added.
17-year-old is first minor to be euthanised in Belgium
- A 17-year-old has been euthanised in Belgium in what is the first application of rules adopted by the country in 2014 allowing doctor-assisted death for minors of all ages, the head of the national committee for euthanasia said on Saturday . Wim Distelmans, who chairs Belgium's Federal Control and Evaluation Committee on Euthanasia, said in statement that the first case was reported to his panel by a doctor last week.
