1. 2. Tamil Nadu has recorded a rise in children dying during labour this year, despite the state boasting about halving the number of infant deaths, recent government data shows. The data shows a drop of more than 3% in the total number of deliveries between 2014 and 2015, leading to an obvious drop in the number of live births. But what has wor ried health experts is that 6,278 babies died in 2015, compared to 4,610 in 2014. “That's a 36% increase and it's worrying,“ said former director of public health Dr S Elango.
