1. India took a large step on Wednesday (16.09.2015) towards its long-pending goal to interlink major rivers with Godavari being officially connected to Krishna.The launch of the 174-km Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday formally connected the two rivers. This is the first major intra-state river-linking in the country.

The Tamil Nadu assembly on Tuesday unanimously passed a resolution urging India to use its diplomatic efforts to prevent the US from taking a pro-Lanka stand.Tamil Nadu wants Modi government to push for an international probe against the alleged human rights violations and war crimes committed in 2009 in Northern Sri Lanka.
