  • India is a democratic country with 29 states and 07 union territories.
  • It is the seventh-largest country by area and the second-most populous country.
  • It shares land borders with Pakistan to the west, China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the northeast, and Myanmar and Bangladesh to the east. 
  • It It is bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast. 
  • In the Indian Ocean, India is in the vicinity of Sri Lanka and the Maldives. 
  • India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands share a maritime border with Thailand and Indonesia.Now lets have a look upon it.

NOTE THE POINT: 
  • The State of Andhra Pradesh has been divided into Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on 02.06.2014. 
  • Hyderabad will remain capital of both the resultant states for 10 years. 
  • The proposed capital for the state of Andhra Pradesh is Amaravati in the district of Guntur.
  • In 1991(69th amendment), made provisions to make Delhi a special Union Territory. 
  • It was declared that the former Union Territory of Delhi would be known as National Capital Territory.
