Age Limit: 
1. For all the posts except the post of Assistant Commissioner (C.T): 30 Years (35 years for SC’s, SC(A)’s, ST’s, MBC’s/DC’s, BC’s, BCM’s and DW’s candidates)

2. Assistant Commissioner (C.T.): 
  • For candidates possessing any degree: 30 Years (35 years for SC’s, SC(A)’s, ST’s, MBC’s/DC’s, BC’s, BCM’s and DW’s candidates)
  • For candidates possessing B.L. degree - 31 years (36 years for SC’s, SC(A)’s, ST’s, MBC’s/DC’s, BC’s, BCM’s and DW’s candidates)

What is Pattern of Preliminary Exam?
  • Single paper in General Studies - 200 items (Degree Standard – Objective Type General Studies – 150 items + Aptitude & Mental Ability Test (SSLC Standard) 50 items)
Duration of Exam: 3 Hours

Maximum Marks: 300

Minimum Qualifuing Marks for Priliminary Exam
  • For SCs, SC(A)s, STs,MBCs/ DCs, BCs and BCMs: 90 Marks
  • For Others: 120 Marks
The question on General Studies will be set in both English and Tamil.

Second Stage of Main Written Examination and Oral Test (Interview)

General Studies- Descriptive type - Degree Standard
  • Paper-I - 3 Hours Exam - Maximum Marks - 300 
  • Paper- II - 3 Hours Exam - Maximum Marks - 300 
  • Paper-III - 3 Hours Exam - Maximum Marks - 300 
  • Interview & Record - Maximum Marks - 120 
Total Marks: 1020

Minimum Qualifying Marks Main Examination and Interview
  • For SCs, SC(A)s, STs,MBCs/ DCs, BCs and BCMs: 306 Marks
  • For Others: 408 Marks
The candidates are allowed to answer the questions either fully in Tamil or fully in English.

No Examination fee for SC/SCA/ST candidates. But they are no exemption for Cost of Application Rs.50/-
