Chennai Airport gets Special Unit for express Cargo
  • Airports Authority of India (AAI) commissioned an express courier handling facility at the air cargo complex for faster clearance and movement of express cargo brought by various airlines at the Chennai international airport on Friday. Airport director Deepak Shastri said the facility would help the logistics industry in faster movement of priority consignments round-the-clock.“It will also help the airport to become a logistics hub for air cargo operations. With the commissioning of the express unit, the air complex can support import, express, domestic and courier operations under one roof.“
New Nuclear Reactor to be commissioned Next year
  • A technical problem, which has delayed the country's first indigenous prototype fast breeder reactor (PFBR) built in Kalpakkam from attaining criticality, is being sorted out and the nuclear reactor will be commissioned next year, said Sekhar Basu, chairman, Atomic Energy Commission on Saturday . Addressing graduates at the seventh convocation ceremony of Hindustan University, Basu said, “loading of sodium, a coolant, in the reactor will begin by the end of the year. It will help progress to the next stage of commissioning of the power project.“ The reactor is awaiting clearance from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) for operations.
GST will boost Indian economy by 1.5%, says Nirmala Sitharaman
  • India is likely to achieve 8% GDP by the fiscal year-end, thanks to the boost given by initiatives such as Make in India, Union minister of state for commerce and industry Nirmala Sitharaman has said. “With Jan Dhan scheme, Aadhaar, better mobile connectivity and direct benefits transfer, India is on a fast growth track,“she said.
India has 6.6 million more married women than men'
  • Two websites promoting polygamy have seen their Indian membership soar in the last one month. The UKbased founder of secondwife.com (for Muslims) and polygamy .com (for non-Muslims) told TOI that his websites feature India among the top five countries. Indians now make up 10%, or over 10,106 members. This comes at a time when the Supreme Court is examining a petition to ban polygamy and triple talaq in India. The goverment has sought a ban on both customs. Initial analysis by the websites shows Indians who signed up are between 20 and 35 years of age. Among the members, 30% are women, claims founder Azad Chaiwala. SecondWife.com was start ed in December 2014 for Muslims who wanted to marry again and got 3,534 signups. This increased to 13,797 in 2015, and currently , 83,435 people have signed up to explore the possibility of finding “love again“. Polygamy .com started in January this year and has 17,896 members.
TNCA unlikely to implement Lodha panel recommendations
  • The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is unlikely to make any move to implement the Lodha committee recommendations before the Supreme Court verdict on October 17. The Supreme Court has told the state associations to give a letter to the court before October 17 stating their position about the implementation of the recommendations. But according to top TNCA sources, it has already been decided and communicated to BCCI which are the proposals they are going to accept and which are the ones that are going to be rejected.

The wheeled rover would be useful in using multiple applications by collecting soil and rock sediments for on-site analysis and transmitting the findings to the earth station.
International Arbitration Centre Opened - Mumbai
  • Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday inaugurated the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA), which is being seen as a major step towards making Mumbai an International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) and providing an arbitration platform to Indian business houses to negotiate commercial disputes. Mr. Fadnavis launched the MCIA on the 20th floor of Express Towers at Nariman Point
